The above obituary for Tyler doesn't and couldn't possibly explain the feeling people would get just by being near him. He was such a nice person, always willing to make everyone around him as comfortable as possible. I met Tyler the first day I transferred from La Cueva High School to Sandia High School. He was in my Spanish class, and was the first person to welcome me to the new school. I remember his smile, how outgoing and friendly he was, and how he seemed to be that way to no matter who he was around. Throughout highschool I had a few more classes with him, and was always blessed by his wit and charm and all around happy demeanor.
Judging by the amount of people at his funeral services it was clear that not only did I feel at ease around him, he made so many people feel that way. He and I lost touch after graduation and as I moved on and got married and had babies, though the memory of the type of person he was never faded. I will always remember his inviting and generous smile and his ability to make people laugh. I pray that He asked for forgiveness, from our only hope of salvation, Jesus Christ. I pray that He's awaiting us all to be raptured to Heaven and is being comforted by God right now. I know that he had struggles with drugs, and I know that another friend of his and mine, Sean Efford, did as well. I pray that their friends still involved in these horrific habits will see the errors in their departed friends paths and reach out to overcome these Satan derived forces.
Over all, the hardest part for me, aside from accepting that this world lost a truly kind guy, was watching the faces of his parents. Anguish, all-consuming saddness and misery hung heavily on their expressions. Had I not had kids, I'd likely feel most of my saddness for Tyler, but knowing that if my children passed on before me would put me in a state far beyond words of "sad" or "grief"... Something more along the lines of "mind and soul numbing heartache and unimagineable strife", though the thought of losing them makes my heart hurt as it is, seeing other parents witness their child's passing had my tears streaming my bewilderment grow. How do you move on from something like that? Surely, they would changed forever... I guess at this point, all I can do is pray for them.
