NM Still Opposing Homosexual Rights

Here's a video from 2/26/09 featuring my dad (JR Allen) and Luke and Asbel (the first couple opposing the bill, they serve in the same Children's Ministry that I do on Sundays, they actually take care of my Lily while I'm serving in my class).

Yay, a Spring Preview!!

The last few days has been GORGEOUS! Absolutely beautiful. So the kids and I have been keeping our patio door open and letting the fresh air circulate in our cave-esque condo. I love our condo, I really do... It's really quiet and laid our very well. We actually don't hear anyone around us because it's a two story and we literally sit on top of our own bottom floor. It's great for Brian because we're on the inside of the condo complex, so when he works graves it's really dark for him. HOWEVER, it can get pretty depressing how dark it is! So I've been loving this warm weather so I can open the door for a change! The kids like it too! They mosey outside for a second and come back in. They don't like to be out there unless I'm out there, but I like to think they're getting better air this way.

Here are a few pictures I snapped of them in between working on Alexxa's flower girl dress and petticoat for DeAnna's wedding. Pictures of that will come after it's finished... it's turning out so beautiful.

Here's Lily, (after a yummy creamsicle)

Here I was playing with my Canon's settings to get more of a "photographer" look. I guess I should read the manual. :D

I believe it was 70 degrees outside today, just wonderful!!

If you're ever wondering why Caleb has so few pictures on here.. this is why. He hates having his picture taken. I can't wait until this stage is over.. Every picture I have of him is him hiding from the camera or crying. Regardless, he's so handsome sometimes I can't believe that blue-eyed boy is mine!!

Today, two guys were laid off at the Railroad in Brian's position. So, thankfully to God, he's gotten his journeyman last week and was able to move up in senority so he had 9 guys (now 7) beneath him. So now, we're asking to for prayers! :) We know God has a plan for us, and He's in control so we're not scared. But it certainly makes me want to move to the country and start a veggie garden and live off the land, in a weird way. I can dream, can't I?

I hope your life is being filled with blessings!!

Miss Lily

It's hard to believe she's already 16 months old. When I see her running around and throwing tantrums I can't help but remember Caleb her age and at that time Lily was ONE month old!! She's still such a baby to me, it's hard to believe that I had two little babies at one time!

I think these 2 pictures above both represent her so well.. Always running, and always smiling. Boy she's getting big!

Craft!

Here's a small tutorial I did to make a collage in our room.

Supplies:

12 Month Calendar
6 8"x10" frames
Scissors

I positioned my favorite pictures from the $1.50 calendar I had. I bought 6 frames for $3 each at Family Dollar, and viola, I had a beautiful collage in my room! :)

Please Pray for Us

Dear Lord,

I have been praying a lot about this, and I feel that You're working heavily in my heart to do what is best for my family and our future. I could really use Your guidance and lead to show me what I should do and where I should go in my life as far as being a mother and a vital member of your church. Lord, I pray that you'll support me completely as you lead me, so I don't feel stress or doubt in what you've established for me. I pray that you help me to make the right decision at the right time, and to give me the ear to hear your answers to my prayers. I pray that you'll work through me to bless others, to use me for Your purpose and fill me with your love and control. I know you're in control, God. I know I can rest in you completely, and I pray that I stay calm in knowing that. If it's time for me to go back to school, please make it happen.

In Your son's name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Valentine's Day!!

So.. do you know hard it is for ME not to post pictures of the gift I've spent MONTHS on for Brian? LOL.. I worked endless hours... cutting, sewing, printing, transferring, sewing, sewing, sewing... It was madness.

So! Here's the finished product!!
How I did it.. I first made the 12"x12" quilt blocks. This one was 5'x7' so 35 squares. I used 10 blocks as picture blocks. I first bought a t-shirt transfers kit from walmart that was compatible with my computer. I printed all the pictures black and white on to the transfer paper then transferred them to a plain white cotton fabric. I then appliqued the pictures to a block. Sewed them all together, and viola!! :) For the backing I bought a micro fleece twin sized blanket and turned and topstiched the 2 layers together. It was time consuming, but even a beginner to do it, I'm sure! :)

It turned out awesome, Brian loved it!! So it was totally worth it! :) I also got him a prayer journal and 2 little things for his car... oh and I claimed his truck as part of his gift, lol!

Which brings me to his truck, Brian got a big diesel Ford truck. He's the truck guy, so that's about all I know. I don't have a picture yet, but I will get some soon.

As for the kids! I got them each a toy and a basket full of little goodies. Lily got a doll stroller and baby, which she LOVED. Lexx got a dream dancer, I had one when I was a little kid and LOVED it, so did she! :) I also got her some clothes and craft stuff. Caleb got a blow up pool/play bin thing.. I don't know how to explain it, and candy and stuff. Here are some pictures of them opening their baskets when they woke up. (Lily is fully dressed because she was up SO much earlier than the other 2 she had plenty of time :::yawn for mama, who stayed up until 2 AM wrapping and putting everything together::::.

Brian got me a HUGE basket filled with a TON of stuff I've mentioned wanting but never getting.. He got me 2 CD's, (Lecrae, a Christian rapper I LOVE, and Jimmy Needham, also Christian and AWESOME.) Also books, magazines, work out stuff, flowers etc.. just a big basket full of things I just happen to want and love lol.

We had a great Valentine's day. Brian got forced to work on the real V-day, but we went out yesterday together to make up for it. We took the kids to Denny's on the real V-day for a family dinner, lol! I hope you all had a great Valentine's day as well!!

Lily's Eye :*(

So last week, I noticed Lily had a little orange dot in her eye, near her cornea on the inside of her eye near her nose on the white part of her eye. I thought it was strange because it wouldn't move when she blinked. My friend Krystle held her eye open and I tried to clean her eye out, it didn't work.

So, the worrier I am, I started googling every phrase I could that somewhat discribed it. As soon as I saw the picture, I knew I had found what she had.

She has Pinguecula. It is usually found in older people, usually as the result of over exposure to UV lights. I can't imagine why she has it, at 16 months. I scheduled an appointment with her Dr. for the the 26th. As far as I know, it's not serious and can be removed if needed. I talked to the nurse practitioner at the office who said she'd never heard of this happening in such a young child. She said the best thing I can do is get her sunglasses and get her used to wearing them as often as possible, especially if we're going outside.

So I bought her 2 pairs of sunglasses at the children's place. I got Caleb a pair too so he can show her how cool it is to wear sunglasses, lol.

All in all, I guess we'll find out more at her Dr. appointment. I've banned myself from googling about it and it's links to serious diseases, lol... So I'll keep you updated!!
